Bampidis Vasileios

Dr Vasileios Bampidis is Professor (2019–current) at the Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Science, School of Geotechnical Sciences, International Hellenic University (IHU), Thessaloniki, Greece, and an expert in Animal Nutrition and Husbandry, Quality and Safety of Feedstuffs, and Quality and Safety of Animal Products. He is a Veterinarian (Department of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece, 1987–1994) and has a PhD in Animal Nutrition (Department of Veterinary Medicine, AUTH, Greece, 1994–1998).
He has been Post Doctoral Fellow at the Research Institute of Animal Production, Prague, Czech Republic (2002), and at the Department of Animal Science, University of California, Davis, USA (2003). In the years 1999–2019, Dr Bampidis has been working as a veterinarian/nutritionist at the Hellenic Feedstuff Industries SA, Greece (1 year), as a Researcher at the Research Institute of Animal Science, National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF), Greece (8 years), as a Professor at the Department of Agricultural Technology, Division of Animal Production, School of Agricultural Technology, Food Technology and Nutrition, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITHE), Greece (11 years), and as an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Animal Production, ATEITHE, Greece (8 years), and at the Department of Veterinary Science, University of Thessaly, Greece (UTH, 1 year). In the years 2008–2024, he taught at the Department of Agriculture, IHU, Greece (5 years), at the Department of Agricultural Technology, ATEITHE, Greece (11 years), at the Department of Veterinary Science, UTH, Greece (1 year) and at the Department of Agriculture, AUTH, Greece (5 years). In the years 2012–2024, Dr Bampidis is Member of the Scientific Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) of European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) of European Union. Moreover, in the years 2018–2024, he is Chair of the FEEDAP Panel of EFSA and Chair of the Working Group on Animal Nutrition, as well as Member of the Scientific Committee of EFSA. He was the Project Leader in 2 projects financed by European Union and in 5 projects financed by Greek Authorities, as well as participant in 38 other research projects. Dr Bampidis has participated in over 50 international and national conferences and workshops, with scientific papers and/or as moderator in scientific sessions.
Dr Bampidis has more than 1.200 publications and oral presentations in international and Greek scientific journals and conferences, attracting more than 8,500 citations, and an h-index 37 and an i10-index 128. He was the Editor of the Proceedings of the 3rd (2011), 4th (2013), 5th (2015) and 7th (2019) Pan-Hellenic Congress in Technology of Animal Production, and co-author of the book Nutritional – Metabolic Diseases of Food Producing Animals (Mammals and Birds) (2012). He serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief in the international scientific journal Animal Feed Science and Technology (2018–current), as well as Associate Editor, Member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer in 23 international scientific journals. He is member in 8 professional bodies.
