Tzikas Zissis

Dr. Zissis Tzikas was born in Thessaloniki in 1970. He is a graduate of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) and got his Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of A.U.Th (2008). His field of study is “Quality and Safety of Food of Animal Origin” and his main research activity is related to the preservation, safety and quality control of food of animal origin.
He has participated in 7 Research Programs and has announced 16 research studies in international and national conferences. His scientific publications include 10 scientific papers in international scientific journals. His published work has more than 400 references in the international literature. He has taught as a Scientific and Laboratory Associate in the Departments of Animal Production and Food Technology of Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (A.T.E.I.Th.) (2005 – 2013, 2017 – 2019), as an Academic Scholar in the Department of Food Science and Technology of the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.) (2019-2020), as an Academic Scholar at the Department of Agriculture of I.H.U. (2021-2022) and as a Contract Teacher (P.D. 407/80) at the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences of A.U.Th. (2018, 2021, 2022). He has lectured in the post graduate program “Public Health of Northern Greece”, Veterinary Public Health Department of the National School of Public Health (2009, 2010) and in the post graduate program “Innovative Systems of Sustainable Agricultural Production” , Department of Agriculture, School of Geosciences, I.H.U. (2023). He has worked in the Inspection Department of ELGO – DIMITRA (2010, 2011) and in the Avian Pathology Laboratory of the Institute of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of the Center of Veterinary Institutions of Thessaloniki (2012-2013). He has also worked as Lead Auditor of Food Safety Management Systems and Quality Management Systems.
